The Goddess and the Shadow
The cold water washed over her sandaled feet. Gently, as if it were welcoming the goddess that gave the lake its name. The sun had set several hours ago and the lake and its surrounding mountains were bathing in the silver glow of the moon. There was no living soul to be heard, except for the ducks in the reed and the cuckoos higher up on the ledges. The secret song of the crickets accompanied her as she walked along the shoreline. The silver moonlight cast her divine form in strange, almost otherworldly light. It was that same moonlight that would guide her to her destination.
